Katy Perry Schedules First Public Appearance Post-Divorce

Katy Perry has been off the radar since Russell Brand filed for divorce on Dec. 30, but the "Teenage Dream" singer isn't staying out of the spotlight for much longer.

Perry, 27, is scheduled to appear at the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 11. The pop star has won three People's Choice Awards over the last two years, including one for favorite female artist. The singer is also expected to perform in Jakarta and Manila later this month.

Brand, 36, however, has been spotted looking somber while running errands in London this week.

Pals of the exes were surprised about the split, which occurred only 14 months after their fairy-tale wedding.

"They were always laughing," one source told PEOPLE. "They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love."
