Evangelist Billy Graham, who has served as a spiritual adviser to every president since Harry Truman, "remains in good spirits in an Asheville [N.C.] hospital, after a time of Bible reading and prayer with daughter, Gigi, last nite," his spokesman, A. Larry Ross, Tweeted Thursday.

Graham, 93, was tested for pneumonia after being admitted on Wednesday to Mission Hospital, near his home, for evaluation of his lungs.

According to the website of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the minister "was alert, smiling and waving at hospital staff. Mr. Graham’s personal physician, Lucian Rice, M.D., said that Mr. Graham's condition is stable."

The report on the BGEA site added that no hospital discharge date has been set, but "Mr. Graham is looking forward to returning home to spend the upcoming Christmas holiday with his family."
