Jenna Fischer’s Pregnancy Will Play Out on The Office

Art is imitating life at The Office.

Jenna Fischer, who announced in May that she’s expecting her first child with husband Lee Kirk, is taking her pregnancy to the small screen in her role as Pam Beesly Halpert on the NBC series, reports New York.

So how will the baby bump business unfold for Pam, who’s married to Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski) and already has one child on the series?

“Pam and Jim snuck away last season on Valentine’s Day, and they had sex,” she reveals.

“The story is that they conceived this baby at that time and were keeping it a secret until we come back from the summer.”

The plot twist, however, was in the works before Fischer, 37, found out she had a baby of her own on the way.

“When we started shooting that episode, I thought to myself, ‘If everything goes well, this is going to be a very, very convenient coincidence,’” she says. “I think I found out I was pregnant when we were shooting that episode.”

And when she’s not clocking in at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, the mommy-to-be is enjoying her pregnancy — and chowing down on sugary cereal.

“[The cravings] change,” she tells E! Online at the premiere of A Little Help. “In the beginning, it was a lot of macaroni and cheese and Lucky Charms. Now it’s a lot of strawberries.”

She adds: “I’ve been really lucky. I’ve had a really easy pregnancy.”

Well, it’s not all easy, she admits.

“Before all the pregnant women at home get mad at me for saying that, I just want them to know that while I did not have morning sickness, I have plenty of cellulite, and it’s okay,” she laughs. “I’ve been cursed in other ways.”

Love her! And the dress is so pretty. I can’t wait to see “A Little Help”. (And Hall Pass, too.)

I’m so thrilled they’re writing in her pregnancy on The Office! I’m excited for another Halpert baby. Can’t wait for season eight to start, and also find out who’s going to replace Michael.

It’s going to be great to see them go through another pregnancy! @klutzy_girl James Spader is taking over for michael. It’s going to be funny!

Hey, an actress who admits to having cellulite! Join the club! And congrats to Jenna so far on her easy pregnancy. I hope everything goes well for Jenna and Lee.

- Cinder Lou on

Caitlin – Actually, James Spader is taking over for Jo, not Michael. We still don’t know who the manager is.

Jenna is so adorable. I heart her. It’ll be interesting to see how they write that into the show :)

- Leah on

congrats to the both of them.

I’ve been cursed with morning sickness and heartburn this pregnancy…but didn’t have it with my son although i did have swollen feet so i know how she feels…but i don’t think any pregnant woman would be mad at her for having an easy pregnancy…every pregnancy is different. i know from experience. my pregnancy with my son wasn’t the same as the pregnancy with my daughter. I’m on my third and last one now.

@klutzy_girl, I’m glad you made the correction about James Spader. @Barbara Tilghman, it’s Pam Halpert! :o )

So excited they are adind the baby to the show. I love her. She is real talent that doesnt need a reality show or bad press to get attention.

- mary on

James Spader is taking over for Michael for about half a day and then he gets promoted to Jo’s job…lol!

- J on

Wow KJH, Barbara was right either way. :O

I think Jenna’s a wonderful actress and I wish her well in her pregnancy but I was hoping they wouldn’t write it into the show, as it hasn’t even been two years since Jim and Pam’s daughter was born. With Carrell gone, I suppose they’re limited in regards to ideas.

- Cecelia on

Cecilia, just curious, why does that matter how far apart they are in age? cece was born on the March 2010 episode and in the fall Pam will still be pregnant, when the show is back on. So, it may be close to 2 yrs.

- Jillian on

Why do they say what’s going to happen in the story before it’s even aired? What’s the point in watching it now?
