Twentieth Century Fox says Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps will open as scheduled on Sept. 24, despite its top star's revelation this week that he has a tumor in his throat and needs eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.
In fact, Fox says Douglas will also promote the film as planned.
A spokesman for Douglas, 65, said this week that doctors expect the two-time Oscar winner to make a full recovery. In a statement, Douglas himself said he was "very optimistic."
In Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, set 20 years after the original Wall Street movie, Douglas reprises his role as Gekko, the disgraced financier who has just been released after a lengthy term in prison.
